In a couple of days senior students from our school will be finishing their high school education, so to mark the end of an important period in their lives, they shared their thoughts and feelings about the school which they have attended for the past four years.

The most memorable class I’ve had 

During my time spent here, in Civil Engineering School, my classmates and I have seen our fair share of professors and their teaching styles. Some of them we could never find common ground with, some would give us a lot of tasks which we’d have to stay up all night to finish on time. And even though my class is a diverse group of people, we do agree on which classes we enjoyed the most and why. Some we liked for obvious reasons, such as, for example, the teachers weren’t very strict or they would let us go on a break a few minutes early. However, there has always been one teacher who made her class the most memorable. 

Mrs Ivana Kovač, our history teacher, has always been a role model not only in teaching but humility as well. She was never strict with us, never lost her temper, and was always focused on making our learning environment as comfortable as possible. I have never been much of a history enthusiast, but she would always seem to find a way to make lessons interesting. Sometimes we’d watch documentaries, others we would solve puzzles or quizzes. There was rarely ever a dull moment. When it came down to tests and questionings, she would always prepare summaries and quizzes for what would be in the test, so we never had an excuse for getting a bad grade. She cared about our opinions so sometimes we’d have discussions about the state of the world we live in or certain events that were taking place. She has always been very down to earth and understood and helped with our stress during presentations and group assignments, not only by listening but by providing support as well.

All in all, I think she is a prime example of what teaching should look like. Now at the end of my high school education, all I can hope for is to find another teacher like her when I’m off at college. Because her class was the most memorable and the one that I can say has left a positive mark on me.
