INSTEAD OF A FAREWELL – PART 1

In a couple of days senior students from our school will be finishing their high school education, so to mark the end of an important period in their lives, they shared their thoughts and feelings about the school which they have attended for the past four years.

High school’s out

As we are finishing our fourth year at Civil Engineering School, it feels strange to realize how fast time has passed. It feels like yesterday we were nervous first-year students, meeting new classmates and trying to find our place in a completely new environment.

During these four years, we have experienced many challenges, stressful exams, project deadlines, but also unforgettable memories, laughter, friendships, and personal growth. High school was not only about learning subjects and preparing for the future, but also about becoming more mature, responsible, and confident people.

Now, as graduation is getting closer, we look back at everything we have been through and realize how much this school shaped us. In this interview, we wanted to share our thoughts and memories about our high school journey.

Dora: “I can’t believe that the end of our high school education has already come!“

Lana: ” Yes, these four years really flew by… And it was better than I have expected. Do you know that I actually do not like architecture as much I used to?”

Dora: “Lana, so why did you choose  Civil Engineering School if you are not interested in architecture?”

Lana: “I chose this school because I wanted to learn practical skills and have more options for the future. Even though architecture is not my main interest, I learned many useful things here. Dora, what was your experience at Civil Engineering School like?”

Dora: “My experience was really good. At first, everything felt new and a little difficult, but with time I adapted and really started to enjoy school life. Did you make good friends in school?”

Lana: “Yes, of course. Some of my closest friends are from this school, and I think we will stay friends even after graduation. What was the best part of high school for you, Dora?”

Dora: “Definitely friendships. We spent so much time together in class, on projects, and during school trips, so we became very close. What did you enjoy the most during school years?  Was the school difficult for you?”

Lana: “I also enjoyed class trips, funny moments during lessons, and spending breaks with friends. Those small moments made schooltime special. Although school was sometimes difficult, especially vocational subjects and exams, with good organization and help from classmates, it became easier. Dora, how do you think you have changed during these four years of high school? Did high school help you grow as a person?”

Dora: “It certainly did. I became much more independent and responsible. At the beginning, I was shy and unsure of myself, but now I feel more confident and ready for new challenges. I learned how to manage my time better, work under pressure, and trust myself more. I also became more serious about my future goals. Lana, what is the biggest lesson you have learned in these four years?”

Lana: “I learned that mistakes are normal and that every challenge helps you grow. I also realized how important good friends and support are. Dora, do you think you are the same person  you were in the first grade?”

Dora: “Not at all. I am much more mature now, and I understand myself better. High school helped me discover what I really want in life. Lana, what are your plans after graduation?”

Lana: “I plan to take a gap year before university. I want to work a little, travel, and think carefully about what I really want for my future. And you, do you want to continue studying architecture after high school?”

Dora: “Yes, I do. I really enjoy technical drawing and design, so I would like to study architecture at university and work in that field one day. Lana, woud you say that, even if architecture is not your main interest, you would still recommend this school to future students?”

Lana: “Yes, definitely. The school teaches responsibility, teamwork, and many useful skills that can help in different careers. What will you miss the most after finishing high school, Dora?”

Dora: “I will miss my classmates, everyday conversations, and the feeling of being together every day. High school created memories I will never forget.”

Lana: “Yes, I agree with you. I wish you a lot of luck in the future!”

Dora: “Thank you, you too! And who knows, maybe the future will bring us together again!”
